The 3-Piece airlock is the best choice for the primary fermenter. It comes apart for easy cleaning in the event of a blow-off. Fill to the line with boiled water or sanitizer to create a closed fermenting system that allows CO2 to escape, but does not allow oxygen (or fruit flies!) back in.
